What is happening in Pakistan?
At present, Pakistan is has been hit by catastrophic flash floods, torrential rains and glacial melt. The havoc wreaked by the floods has destroyed land and lives. Over 33 million people, a third of the Pakistani population, is now homesless. Internal displacement and relocation to temporary shelters are depriving women of the right to menstrual hygiene. Social taboos around the subject only make things harder.
WHO WE ARE
"Mahvaar" is Urdu for "Monthly"
Mahwari Justice is a menstruation relief campaignfor flood victims initiated by two students, Bushra Mahnoor and Anum Khalid, who are reaching out and providing young female flood victims with menstrual hygiene kits. Each kit contains a pack of sanitary napkins, either bought or made ourselves, a bar of soap and underwear. We hope to opt for more sustainable options eventually.
